Pianist Benjamin Hochman
has achieved widespread acclaim for his performances as
orchestral soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. He
has performed with the New York and Israel Philharmonics,
the Chicago, Pittsburgh, American and Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestras, Seattle, Vancouver, New Jersey and Portland
Symphonies and the National Arts Centre Orchestra in
Canada under eminent conductors such as Kazuyoshi
Akiyama, Leon Botstein, Nir Kabaretti, Jaime Laredo, Jun
Märkl, Arthur Post, Lucas Richman, Bramwell Tovey and
Pinchas Zukerman. Mr. Hochman has collaborated with the
Mendelssohn, Casals, Prazak and Daedalus Quartets, the
Zukerman ChamberPlayers, members of the Guarneri and
Orion Quartets and with Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson,
Cho-Liang Lin, Ani Kavafian, and Ralph Kirshbaum.
During the 2009-2010 season Benjamin Hochman releases his
first album on Artek, featuring Bachs Partita No. 4
in D and Partita No. 6 in E minor, Bergs Sonata,
Op. 1 and Weberns Variations Op. 27. Mr. Hochman
performs solo recitals at Chicagos Music in the
Loft and as part of Caramoors Haydn Festival. In
New York City, he presents the complete Bach Partitas as
part of Miller Theatres Lunchtime Concert Series,
and performs with world-renowned cellist Miklós Perényi
at the 92nd Street Y. Mr. Hochman joins the eminent Tokyo
String Quartet for a performance at Philadelphia Chamber
Music Society. Orchestral engagements include his San
Francisco Symphony debut, and appearances with the
Pittsburgh, Knoxville, Wheeling and New Jersey Symphony
Orchestras, the Fort Wayne and Erie Philharmonics, and
the Atlantic Festival Orchestra. Internationally, Mr.
Hochman performs at the Enav Cultural Center in Tel Aviv,
and travels to Istanbul to perform Beethovens
Triple Concerto with cellist Efe Baltacigil and violinist
Arnaud Sussmann.
Past festival highlights include Ravinia, Caramoor,
Marlboro, Santa Fe, Bard, Bridgehampton, Gilmore, Vail
and Vancouver in North America, as well as international
festivals at Lucerne, Spoleto, Verbier, Ruhr, and Prussia
Cove. International performances have been presented at
such major halls as the Concertgebouw, the Louvre, Tivoli
Theatre, lAuditori de Barcelona, Suntory Hall in
Tokyo and Kumho Art Hall in Seoul.
Benjamin Hochman has participated in three prestigious
residencies: Chamber Music Society Two at Lincoln Center,
Isaac Sterns International Chamber Music Encounters
in Israel, and Carnegie Halls Professional Training
Workshops with Osvaldo Golijov and Dawn Upshaw.
Born in Jerusalem, Benjamin Hochman began studies with
Esther Narkiss at the Conservatory of the Rubin Academy
in Jerusalem and Emanuel Krasovsky in Tel Aviv. He is a
graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Mannes
College of Music where his principal teachers were Claude
Frank and Richard Goode. Mr. Hochmans studies were
supported by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. |
