WEESNER: “The Space Between” for string quartet
BRAHMS: Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115

Praised as “insightful and vibrant” (The New York Times), “one of the freshest and most exciting” (The New Yorker) and “rockets of blistering virtuosity” (The Washington Post), Daedalus Quartet returns to Treetops CMS for a second collaboration with Artistic Director Oskar Espina Ruiz, clarinet, to perform a towering classic, the Brahms Clarinet Quintet. The program starts with Beethoven and the most popular quartet in the set of six quartets Op. 18 that represent the high point in Beethoven’s first period. Anna Weesner’s music has been described as “animated and full of surprising turns” (The New York Times). The recipient of a 2009 Guggenheim Fellowship and a 2008 ‘Academy Award’ from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Anna Weesner’s “The Space Between” for string quartet adds a new and groundbreaking dimension to the program.
